This is an excellent opportunity for organisations to demonstrate their success stories to Forum participants, describing in detail the challenges they encountered and how they dealt with them. These sessions are open to anyone attending the Forum. They run over coffee and lunch breaks and are in English only.

Fighting e-skills shortages and unemployment: the e-jobs-observatorye-jobs Observatory
Although information technology and the Internet are major drivers of employment in the EU, there is a shortage of skilled professionals in e-jobs. The PIN-ProInterNet project, supported by the Lifelong Learning Programme of the EC, has established a network of e-jobs stakeholders to align training offers to the market needs. As a result, training guidelines, and a ‘Labelisation and Certification’ process, have been developed to identify the local markets for ICT training courses, as well as the course providers.

With youth unemployment remaining stubbornly high in most of Europe, governments are realising that there are no magic bullets. This presentation explores some of the practical, everyday measures that Ingeus Sweden has been developing to support young people into decent, sustainable employment. Through innovative use of group work, harnessing the power of peer learning and targeted employer engagement Ingeus Sweden has achieved job outcomes of up to 70% among 16-24 year olds.

The European Globalisation Fund – Winds of OpportunitiesRingkøbing-Skjern MunicipalityRingkøbing-Skjern was once the cradle of green energy technologies. The local wind-mill company Vestas created thousands of jobs. However, since 2009 the company has made many employees redundant. With support from the European Globalisation Fund the Municipality could up-skill unemployed people from Vestas making a sustainable impact on the labour market.

Employment and Skill Forecasting for Real Business NeedsNorth Tyneside PartnershipShowcasing a strategic partnership using data from Planning Applications to forecast numbers and types of skills require both during and post construction. Using industry tested coefficients the tool effectively identifies future labour requirements at the earliest stage possible. The data is used to inform curriculum designers and strategic employability planners.Note: the tool is web based and will be able to be demonstrated.
